Politics again…lol

I worked this morning and hid away all afternoon, trying to nap but with no luck in doing so.  I relegated myself to just staying quiet, cuddling with the dogs and doing much deep thinking.

Tonight I caught up on social media on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  I get a lot of my news blips from those places too…I’m always interested in what others find interesting in the news.  Of course 99% of what I read is about Trump and his cohorts.  I cannot understand how we are allowing him to continue on as President of the United States.  It just makes NO sense.  Every day he comes up with something new to destroy.  He hops from topic to topic, and never really give anyone any idea of what his REAL policy is on any one thing.  A POTUS with NO known real policy, no known “real” agenda – other than creating complete chaos across the board.

We are close to war in several places around the globe.  Trump is beating the war drum, he thinks he can just do anything he wants to do.  I seriously think he’s going to get us in to a war with North Korea first, and that will anger the Russians, the Chinese and others.  Soon he will have most of the major dark side world powers all lined up against us.  It may be a war that we lose.  I know that is something the US doesn’t think can happen, but in reality it CAN happen.  Right now I see no diplomatic negotiations taking place with any of our “enemies” like Russia, N. Korea, China or Iran (yeah now Iran is angry too).  It’s really fucking scary.  I dread the morning that we all wake up to the news that we have either attacked or been attacked by any one of the aforementioned entities.   It will be a very bad day.

When will we ever get to making some decisions here in America?  All we have done for the last couple of years is fight over things.  Nothing seems to be getting done or resolved.   Washington is locked up in partisan politics.  We have a very ineffective leader.  We have ineffective representation in Congress and the Senate.  It’s going to take a complete change of the guard to rectify this whole situation and that’s going to be one super nasty fight.  Our next mid-term elections are going to be very tell-tale.  I suspect that you will see more money than ever before being poured into the political coffers of many candidates.  And if we are to elect effective candidates it’s going to take a hell of a lot of real grassroots campaigning.  It certainly will be interesting.

Next week, when Congress returns from their vacation, they will be faced with dealing with the national budget.  If they cannot get it together then we are going to be facing a government shutdown by next Friday.  This shutdown will totally be the fault of Donald J. Trump.  Trump is insisting that there be $1billion for the construction of his famous wall on the Mexican border – that wall that he promised that Mexico would pay for – and if there is a government shut down I predict it will be over this issue alone.  He will let our government shut down over his idiotic idea of the wall.  I think he’ s THAT MUCH of an asshole.

Alrighty, that’s enough political shit for tonight.   For more specific stories you can always check out my daily paper on Paper.li “Relevant Times”  It gets tweeted out on my Twitter account daily, and is a composition of what’s happening on the political scene, the LGBT scene, and in the lesbian enclave of the world.  It’s kind of interesting.

I am considering upgrading my WordPress account to be able to post videos here as well.  You have to upgrade to a paid account to add videos.  Right now I use YouTube, but I am not completely happy with that venue at the moment.  Especially with some of the anti-LGBT stuff that has gone on with Youtube’s rules lately.  And Instagram videos are just too limited, I use that mostly for quick pics and to follow my younger friends’ posts.  I hope to have time this coming weekend to work on all of this.

Just in One Single Day…

It has been a long, strange day in American politics.  There were a few – a FEW – major fuck ups that happened today.  Most of which just show how fucking stupid some politicians can BE when they open their mouths.

Sean Spicer….oh, Sean!  yes, he’s done it again.  He cannot get Bashar Al Assad’s name right on ANY given day, and today was no different, but today he tried to compare Assad to Hitler.  Saying that Assad was WORSE than Hitler.  It turned into a huge deal.  He seemed to be saying that Hitler didn’t gas his own people….like DUDE, did you NOT take world history???  Hitler gassed upward of 11 million people in his gas chambers — which, GET THIS — Spicer called “Holocaust Centers” today.  Once again, this guy should NOT be talking outloud, let along trying to be the spokesperson for the White House of this country.  He tried to walk back his words, repeatedly.  Then afterwards he issued no fewer than 3 written “clarification” statements all within 19 minutes…he kept changing the words, he kept using the WRONG words.  Yes, Sean, talking is hard.  Very hard.  He really needs to resign this job, and we need someone who doesn’t make us look like fucking idiots on the world stage.  Sean Spicer can’t talk his way out of a paper bag.  It’s been an issue since the beginning with him, but today just took the proverbial CAKE.

For more on this please watch Rachel Maddow’s presentation here.  She explains it perfectly.  I am sure you’ll be just as embarrassed by his ineptitude.  Also, this is a good clip on what a moron Spicer was today.

The second biggest story here in America in the last couple of days has been United Airlines and their decision to remove a passenger from a flight so that one of their crews would have room to fly.  Perhaps you haven’t seen the video footage…it’s appalling, let me warn you.  These 3 police officers, that’s what they called them, literally drag this poor Asian man off the flight, as he freaks out.  The poor guy didn’t understand what the hell was going on, you can tell.  He’s a 69 yr old doctor, of Asian descent and he’s been singled out for removal from this flight – supposedly by some sort of selection based upon connecting flights and arrival times.  Bullshit.  United did NOT handle this very professionally, and they are paying the price  – losing $250M the next day in the stock market value.  PLUS now everyone is saying here that they will NOT fly United again.  I know that I won’t after seeing this.  United removes passenger.  Scroll down for actual video footage of removal of this man.

Our “president” Donald J. Trump has been in office not even 100 days yet…and yet he has spent 17 days golfing.  Golfing.  This is the man who claimed he would have “no time” to golf because he would be too busy staying in the White House doing America’s business.  What a bullshit lair he has turned out to be on just this ONE thing.  Check this out

Those are just a FEW of the things that happened politically today here in the USA.  It’s fucking scary how much happens in just one day lately.  It’s like we are on this out of control slide into total chaos here.

Other  things of significance to note…

  • Jeff Sessons spoke about the “Trump era” of immigration from the Mexican border.
  • Trump tweeted about taking on North Korea with or without Chinese assistance. His Tweet:  “North Korea is looking for trouble. If China decides to help, that would be great. If not, we will solve the problem without them! U.S.A.”
  • Trump poked again at China…His Tweet “I explained to the President of China that a trade deal with the U.S. will be far better for them if they solve the North Korean problem!”
  • The US has sent war ships to the Korean peninsula, which is VERY SCARY .  That story is here:  US Dispatches War Ships
  • And, sadly, J. Geils was found dead in his Groton, MA home earlier today.  RIP.  That story is here.  J. Geils Band

Yes, we are certainly headed for something here, I’m not sure if it’s war or just more testosterone fueled posturing.  Trump got a “taste” of it with his attack on the Syrian airport, and now he’s vying for more.  I’m afraid of what this man will start, and afraid of what our enemies may do if he does start something.  It’s becoming very scary indeed.

And THIS my friends is why I don’t always sleep well at night!

Trump’s Latest Anti-LGBT Move…

People line Christopher Street during a gathering of the LGBTQ community and supporters protesting U.S. President Donald Trump's agenda in Manhattan

Roger Severino has been given the position as chief of the Office for Civil Rights in the Health and Human Services (HHS) department of our government, working directly under HHS secretary Tom Price.

THIS, dear friends, is NOT good for the LGBT community.  This is a direct threat to all of the rights that we have fought so damned hard for, the major one coming to mind is marriage equality.  Severino and Price are BOTH historically anti-LGBT in their rhetoric and actions.

Putting these two people at the helm of the ship when it comes to all civil rights is a very dangerous thing to minority groups.  Of the LGBT in particular Severino and Price do not believe the discrimination is an issue for us.  Really?

These appointments are more fine examples of how inconsiderate, hateful and trigger happy the president and his administration are.  Who appoints someone who hates gays to an office that has the duty to investigate and possibly prosecute the abuse of LGBT civil rights?  Someone who hates us to begin with: Donald Trump.

Yes, the great old orange idiot did this to us.  If you are an LGBT Republican and you voted for this guy I hope you are happy now.  Or will you be happier when they strip our right to marry away?  They’re going to try to do it, just you wait and see.  Either way, these appointments send dangerous signals that they would bring someone to protect our rights to the table that so adamantly denies there are problems and the we even need protection.

“Severino won’t be able to roll back protections overnight, and his office will still be required to look into every civil rights complaint. But he will have some discretion in terms of deciding what to prioritize, and what kind of resources to invest. (HHS Secretary Tom Price also has a history of opposing LGBTQ rights.”  Huffington Post, 3-27-17

TrumpCare…strike 1

Well, TrumpCare did NOT get voted on today.  Seems that Donny Boy is having trouble garnering enough votes to get it passed, so he cancelled the voting so that he wouldn’t look worse when it got voted down.  I wish they had voted on it, so it would have been killed.  Trump is not happy with this, as one can imagine.  He wanted to pass his descimating health care bill ON the 7th anniversary of the ACA (ObamaCare) being signed by President Obama.  But, it backfired.  He cannot get the votes needed to pass it because so many from his own party can see how horrible this AHCA will be for everyone.

They had meetings all day as he tried to apply pressure to representatives to vote his way.  One of the meetings was on whether or not maternity care and mammograms should be considered “essential” treatments covered by all health insurance policies under the Republican proposal.  NOT ONE WOMAN WAS IN THE ROOM, OR PART OF THE DISCUSSION ON THIS…NOT ONE.  I personally find this highly disturbing.  Women have been excluded entirely from all of Trumps agenda.  But to have them also excluded from a discussion that DIRECTLY affects all of the women in the USA is horrible.  It shows me that Trump is so threatened by women, that he wants to control all aspects of women, he wants to strip us of any freedom of choice or rights that we have.  I am sure if he can manage it he will also try to take away women’s voting rights.  The man is a seriously dangerous threat to all women.

Trump should not be allowed to continue with his “agenda” at all right now.  He is under investigation for “collusion” with the Russians and it’s getting very serious.  In my opinion, and in the opinion of many, he is an illegitimate president and should be halted from signing any more executive orders or pushing any more laws through until after this full investigation is over.  But he seems to be trying to “fast track” things, like the AHCA and the Immigration Ban – I think because he KNOWS that his time is limited now; that he’s in deep, deep doo-doo and he’s going to be thrown out soon.  Impeach the bastard.

If it were a Democratic president in office under these same circumstances right now the Republicans would be having a shit fit about him pushing any sort of legislation through while under investigation.  So I think it’s only fitting to hold Trump and the Republican party to these same standards.  It pisses me off that the Republicans seem to have this “high and mighty” idea that they are somehow “above the law” in so many respects.  Just because they happen to hold a slight majority right now in the house and senate they think they have everything in their control.  They are very narrow minded it seems, everything is about the almighty dollar and nothing is about compassion or caring about the people of this country.  It must be a very sad thing to be a Republican. Very Sad.

I am praying hard for my country right now.  Things are just going to get worse and the ride is going to be very bumpy for sure.  When all of the nastiness comes out publically I think that it will divide us even more.  There are so many people still that actually believe this outrageous liar called “president”.  I am scared about what will happen; scared about possible riots and violence.  I am scared that Trump will try something foolish, like trying to over throw our government in some way.  He is very much acting like a dictator and is unwilling or unable to see that he is NOT above American law.

I’ve heard that TrumpCare will be postponed indefinitely, then I heard that they would try to put it to a vote on Friday.  Trump will NOT let it go to vote unless he has a sure win in his pocket.  I pray it will be blocked.

That’s it for tonight.  Peace.  ~MB

Is this really 2017?

I feel like we are heading in a backwards direction.  One would think that in 2017 we would have stopped arguing and fighting against stupid shit.  But no…

It’s the weirdest thing to sit and watch everything unfold with Trump.  To watch him lie and awkwardly spin things is just something I NEVER thought would come from a US President.  To have the White House tell you that you should believe the lies because he is the leader, and what he says must be true – even when it’s proven to be an outright lie.  His supporters are buying it like idiots, even as they witness reality unfolding in real-time.

We have an illegitimate president who is now being investigated for his ties to Russia.  Russia?!  The big bad Bear.  I served in the US Army, stationed in Germany, during the “Cold War” and Russia was our biggest threat to world security.  Unless I have missed something in the past 35 years, they still ARE the biggest threat!  And to think that they influenced our election in any way is just plain scary.  They are some ruthless and smart fuckers; their reach is astounding and Americans cannot ever let their guard down or underestimate the Russians.

Two months into his presidency Trump’s administration is failing badly.  They want you to think they are oblivious and they are succeeding, but with a popularity rating of 37% after 2 months, he’s losing ground fast.  The investigation into the Russian meddling into our election and his Twitter lies about wire tapping have driven him down this week.  His Trumpcare bill goes for a vote on Thursday, and today he went to the hill to threaten his Republican constituents that if they did not vote it in that he would go after them in the next election, that basically they were under orders to pass this bill no matter what.  This bill will decimate our health care system, and millions will suffer the fate of no coverage.  Even Republicans can’t stomach that, at least the ones with a conscience.  Even the CBO (Congressional Budget Office) says that this plan is not a good one.  What more do we need?  Major changes to this bill must be made before it goes any further.  If he wants to change Obamacare then do it so that it’s better not worse.

I just wonder how these politicians can sit up there on Capitol Hill and not see what we as Americans are seeing; not hearing what we are hearing.  It just blows me away. What do they know that we do not know?  This government has gotten so secretive in the last 60 days, it’s scary as fuck.  I don’t trust a one of then anymore.  None are working in favor of the people, all are just covering their own asses – and it’s fucking obvious!!!  So, I ask, HOW DO we stop this madness?

I am going to try to put my LINK to my online paper here.  The Relevant Times publishes daily on Paper.Li and is full of information concerning the LGBT community and politics in the US.  It’s kind of an experiment for me right now; something I am hoping will be fun and informative to my followers. Let me know what you think.  I do not hand pick the articles, I trust my sources and have selected those I believe bring us the most up to date stuff.  Let me know what else I could include in the paper, or if you have a trusted source you think I could draw content over to it from.  Most of my current content is coming over from Twitter at this time, and this will expand once I am more secure in the publication.

Our Child-like President

Alright, I’ve admitted that I am a news junkie…but I am particularly obsessed with this illegitimate president we have occupying the White House part time, yeah Donald J. Trump.  I watch and read news stories regularly, and most of what I am reading/watching lately is stuff about him, his budget suggestions, his health insurance plan, his cabinet picks, and his child-like behavior in office.  As much as I have read/seen it STILL amazes me that this freak is still in office after 58 days.  Yes, it’s been 58 days since he took office on Jan. 20, 2017 and began to set the country on it’s ear.  Fifty-eight days of stupidity.

Trump changes the topic every week.  Sometimes a couple of times a week, depending upon his mood and how mean he feels that day.  His Tweets have shown how childish and self-centered he is.  His cabinet choices show me that he is lining us up for a complete hostile take over of our government.  He says he is trying to make America great again…then he does things to tear our country apart; to divide us and to cause us anxiety and harm.  He does not engage the citizens.  He hides from us; from the press and from directly answering any question.  He takes responsibility for nothing and continually blames others for any problems he encounters.  Like now he is blaming Fox News for his “wire tapping” Tweets, saying it was a report from one of their journalists – that he obviously believed – that he was referring to in his Tweets.  “Don’t ask me, go ask Fox.”

This man is pure evil.

I  watched Saturday’s press conference, with him and Angel Merkel, leader of Germany, and was horrified at how he presented himself and represented the USA.  He literally disrespected her on national television with the whole world as witness.  He ignored her handshake request at the podium, and wouldn’t make eye contact with her.  His posture was child-like and very weak looking.  He sat in the chair like a little boy being scolded.  It was very difficult to watch, I felt uncomfortable for America.  He did not do us justice.  He did not look or act or talk like a world leader, like the leader of the free world…and Merkel appeared just as surprised, perhaps even a bit insulted to be forced to stand next to this pathetic man-child.  Yes, I was embarrassed, and he should have been too.  He was ill prepared to host this great leader of Germany and it was very obvious he did not know how to act or carry himself in a stately manner.  He was very uncomfortable, and it showed.

I don’t understand HOW he is staying in office.  Trump might be a great guy in another context, but as a president he is not.  He knows only the life of the rich and famous, he doesn’t “get” what it’s like to actually have to struggle and earn a living in America.  He doesn’t understand how to talk to people, how to converse and exchange ideas.  He only knows how to give orders and bark commands – like a BOSS, not as a president.  He doesn’t seem to know how to ask for things, but certainly knows how to demand them.  The difference is that he is an actor, a TV personality, a reality show host, and NOT a politician who is schooled in proper etiquette and on how to conduct oneself in situations like yesterday’s press conference.  He knows how to boast about himself, and how to condemn America as “carnage”…constantly patting himself on the back and saying how people think he’s so great.  The man is DELUSIONAL.  I believe he is actually mentally deficient, or at least socially inept.

I won’t even get started on his proposed new budget.  It’s another piece of hate-filled legislation that he will try to ram down the throats of Americans.  I am hoping and praying that the Congress will look at his suggested budget and realize that it is just his desire, and that they will put together a budget that will be more reasonable.  It’s up to them to make and ratify the budget, his proposal is only that – an outline of what he wants to see.  And his ideas are very much right leaning.

I have been very active on Twitter and Facebook in voicing my opinion of this president and his administration.  I will continue to voice that opinion, I will continue to resist.  I think that he will ultimately dig his own political grave with one of his immature Tweets at some point.  Let’s hope it is before he gets us into a war with North Korea or China.  Let’s hope it’s before he decimates the economy, destroys our culture and alienates all of our allies.  And let’s hope it’s before the end of the year.  I predict that it will be, because after only 58 days he is gaining more and more opponents every day.

Peace.   ~MB

Early Morning Rantings!

Once again I am awakened at 2am, just am not meant to sleep like a normal person should right now.  I wake up and I am just…up…no going back to sleep in the immediate future.

I had a really great conversation with a great woman that I have been talking to lately.  It wasn’t an easy chat at all, but it was good for both of us I believe.  I confided in her a good bit about my addiction history, and she didn’t go running away like a scared cat. Addiction is not an easy topic to navigate and I admire her for her inquisitiveness on the topic, as it is a big part of who I am and why I am.  I look forward to more conversations with her, about everything.  She is someone I very much want to keep in my life.  🙂

Today was a bit hectic, but seriously productive. I worked til 1pm and then got together with my best friend and went to do our Friday afternoon errands around town.  Every Friday we have a ritual of doing this.  It’s called living paycheck to paycheck.  We get paid, go out and pay our bills, do the shopping for our respective households and take care of whatever else needs doing in town.  It is a struggle sometimes, but I make it work somehow.  And I realize that there are millions of others who are making it work this way as well.  It’s not easy in today’s economy or job market to do it any other way – especially if you don’t have a college education to fall back on, which I don’t.  Sometimes it feels likeI am always trying to play catch up on things, but hey, that’s just how it is.  I do alright.

I visited Trader Joe’s grocery this afternoon, I love that place!  I actually requested an employment application when I was checking out, and the woman who checked me out told me it was a super great place to work.  Everyone in there seems pretty pleasant and happy to be there, so they must enjoy the job.  I love the diversity of people in the place, from old hippies, to housewives, to young dykes, it’s just a palate of different people. They must have a really good company equality policy.  I am going to research the company a bit just to be sure that I would be a good fit there.

I also visited Staples office supply store on my excursion about town.  I needed a ream of copy paper.  They had a really good deal on some excellent quality paper that I had to take advantage of!  That is another place I could picture myself working.  Although a bit more “stuffy” than Trader Joe’s eclectic atmosphere, it would be fun.  I was in the corporate business world for many years and used to frequent the place quite a bit for supplies for my company.  I imagine working with people who were doing the same thing would be right up my alley in skill sets. And being the techno nerd that I am, I can imagine I would probably reinvest in the company and that might not be a good idea!  I’d be buying stuff like crazy.

Meanwhile, in Trumpy-land the Twitterverse is running wild with Trumpy stuff.  This Russian connection thing is really getting out of hand, Jeff Sessions needs to resign and a full investigation needs to ensue.  It just has to happen to put this subject into some sort of understandable terms. I was Tweeting with a friend in Texas who is petrified right now.  Being our age and queer isn’t going to be an easy path under Trump as he keeps going along with ripping away our rights and equalities.  It’s also just plain scary as an American, not withstanding being a part of the LGBTQ community!   Everyone seems to feel the impending doom of being attacked in some way by all of the executive orders and wild things that Trump and his team are doing or proposing to do.  I know I’m fucking scared.

Living in Maine has some pretty unique advantages.  Where I live especially because geographically it’s a great spot.  Right between Boston Mass, and Portland Maine.  I can be at the beach in 5 minutes, in the White Mountains in less than an hour and to either of the two cities in about 45 minutes.  Geographically it’s fucking perfection.  Maine also has a good equality rating. I just read an article in the Bangor Daily News about Maine being at the top when it comes to gender equality.  We also have good protections for the LGBTQ citizens here too.  I am glad that I live in this type of state.  From personal experience I can say that there IS really good gender equality.  Maine women are a fierce and tough lot.  Especially those from “down” Maine, which is actually upstate Maine…it’s a Maine thing…those women are hardened by the lifestyle of living in a very rural state, where you have to be fairly tough to survive.  I live in the more populated area, it’s a bit easier to navigate life here, but my cousins are down Mainers’ and they are not to be messed with.  The women are equal to the men up there in so many ways, they do equal work and expect equal pay. And truth be known, I believe they run the whole fucking show!  I have a healthy respect for my down Maine women cousins. They take no prisoners.

I hope your weekend is a great one!  Signing off from southern Maine….Peace!  ~MB
