Some I agree with and some I don’t, but is extremely well written and a great piece all around! I enjoy all of this particular bloggers work she has her thumb right on the pulse of the butch femme world.

I read this and was helped a a lot by reading it. My sister is the Butch in this dynamic and because we are estranged (over parental abuse, alcoholism and awful shared trauma) I have never had a chance to understand it. I feel much clearer now and appreciate that she is who she is, not a wanna be transgender person or anyone else.

Thank you for sharing this. It resonates with me, as an old school (though not necessarily “stone”) high femme. I have often heard the butch/femme dynamic categorized as a relic of archaic gender norms, but to me, it’s an obvious subversion of heteronormative roles. The way butches and femmes are characterized, sometimes by those within “our community”, is too often viewed through a lens of hetero standards. I have never felt more seen, more honored, more grounded, and more honest than when coupled with an old school butch partner, and it’s not because I’m a “spoiled princess”, nor have my partners been misogynistic or patronizing.
